To promote friendly competition and to give young golfers experience playing in a professionally-run tournament.
How did the tournament get started?
The first tournament was held in July of 1970 in honor of junior golfer Jay Borck who had died the previous year of a cerebral hemorrhage—just one week after winning the Brooklawn Junior Tournament.
What is the tournament format?
The first day is a qualifying round at stroke play. The second and third days are match play. Winners are announced on Wednesday. There is a dinner for all participants and their guests on Monday evening.
Participation in The Borck Memorial is by invitation. Golfers interested in participating are encouraged to speak with their golf pro or review the information here.

Participation is open to boys and girls ages 17 and under.
How much does it cost to participate?

The dinner is an opportunity for contestants to meet in a semi-formal environment. The scholarship winner will be announced during the dinner. Jacket and tie are required for boys, and attendance is mandatory. This year’s dinner will be held at Mill River Country Club in Stratford.
Can competitors invite guests to the dinner?
Yes. The cost for parents and guests to attend is $40 per person. We recommend making reservations well in advance, due to the popularity of the event. Dinner reservations can be made by sending a check, payable to The Borck Family Foundation, to
