Tournament co-founder, Chester Borck, believed strongly that good sportsmanship and academic excellence build character. The Borck Memorial scholarship is designed to promote those values as students from the Greater Bridgeport area begin their college careers.
The scholarship is open to young men and women whose academic performance in high school is sufficient to gain college admission. Scholarship applicants must also exhibit good citizenship and an interest in the game of golf.
Good citizenship includes participating in community service and having a potential for leadership. Interest in golf includes participation on a high school team, work as a caddy or in a golf shop, or through any other involvement with the game.
A scholarship will be awarded to the recipient each semester for four years, conditioned upon satisfactory academic performance.
